West Virginia: Regular Session Ends; Special Session Likely

Lawmakers completed work on a state budget just after midnight Sunday, however Governor Jim Justice (D) is likely to veto it, making a special session likely this week to hash out the details. Lawmakers approved home school measures, legislation to track and treat drug overdoses, broadband Internet coverage, and medical marijuana authorization. Legislators also overrode the governor’s veto on a right-to-work bill, and passed measures to allow certain non-violent offenders to reduce their felony convictions to misdemeanors, and prevent so-called “revenge porn.”
