New York: Special Session Concludes
June 29, 2017

Lawmakers concluded a two-day special session Thursday, after reaching an agreement on an omnibus bill that extends sales taxes in over 50 counties for three years, as well as mayoral control of the New York City school system for two years. The omnibus bill contains several unrelated provisions, including measures to rename the Tappan Zee Bridge for former governor Mario Cuomo, financial incentives for the Vernon Downs racino, flood relief for communities along Lake Ontario, and accidental disability pension enhancements for New York City first responders.
