Florida: 2017 Regular Session Adjourns
May 09, 2017

Lawmakers adjourned the 2017 regular session, a few days later than anticipated, after approving a $82.4 billion state budget that increases higher education and charter school funding while eliminating the corporate incentive programs. Legislators also approved a pay raise for state workers, and enhanced rules for drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities.

As the session ended, lawmakers were unable to reach an agreement on clarified gambling regulations, a medical marijuana law, and an overhaul of the workers compensation program. Governor Rick Scott (R), who does not possess a pocket veto, has 15 days upon transmittal to sign or veto legislation that reaches his desk.
